Scarpa Walking Boots
Background
Luigi first came to work at S.C.A.R.P.A.
(SCARPA is also know as the Societ Calzaturiera Asolana Riunita Pedemontana Anonima or Associated Shoe
Manufacturing Company of the Asolo mountain area) in 1942 in
the famed shoe-making area around Montebelluna in northeast Italy.
The company had been founded on 6 August 1938 by Lord Rupert Edward
Cecil Iveagh, an English nobleman who owned land in the district
encompassing Asolo. Fascinated by the skills demonstrated by local
small craft firms which processed leather and hides, the English lord
decided to set up a company which would embrace all the best shoemakers
in the area, this for the purpose of creating a trademark par
excellence, one featuring great productive capacity and serious
ambitions on the international level. From the very outset, Luigi loved his work, and for over tens years that enthusiasm buoyed him as he learned the art of shoemaking under the tutorship of a number of skilled craftsmen.
Later on, Luigi and other members of the Parissoto family set about making bespoke, almost indestructable shoes entirely by hand for the local farmers in the area. The Scarpa company as it came to be known, has developed a huge range of high quality outdoor footwear known for their comfort and durability - properties envied by many other walking boot manufacturers. Scarpa are now renowned as using the finest quality materials and maintain, excellent quality of workmanship, technically designed for fit, durability and sutiability throughout their outdoor footwear.
