Platypus
Background
The Cascade Designs (owners of Platypus) story begins in the early 1970s, when public interest in backpacking was booming. More and more people were lacing up their boots, hoisting packs onto their backs, heading out into the hills, and sleeping under the stars. Two former Boeing engineers, avid backpackers themselves, had an idea: "Wouldn't it be great," they imagined, "if we could make it more comfortable to sleep out on the cold, hard ground?" So, together they created the world's first self-inflating camping mattress. They called their invention Therm-a-Rest, and their fledgling company, Cascade Designs. With this innovation, Cascade Designs were spurred on to develop a huge range of outdoor equipment, including the Playtpus water bottles and accessories.
Platypus bottles and reservoirs are so flexible they fit into tight spaces in any pack. They’re lined with beverage-grade polyethylene, so they won’t flavor your drinking water with an unpleasant plastic taste, and they’re much lighter than conventional hard bottles, with far more versatility. Whether you use it as a shower, to link up to your filter system, or simply as a water bottle for drinking - Platypus have built a great reputation in this field of hydration and water resevoir accessories.
