Background
Nikwax aims to be the International market leader for waterproofing and maintenance products for all-weather outdoor clothing, footwear and equipment, by upholding their commitment to technical innovation, product quality, customer service and care for the environment.
Born in 1954, Nick Brown was brought up in Kent and was introduced to trekking in the Peaks with his father through the YHA from the age of ten. Nick walked in Scotland every year and being dissatisfied with the waterproofing products available, he created his own recipe for preserving his leather walking boots. It was improtant to make them waterproof without softening them and losing their essential supportive features. Nick's wax (hence Nikwax) was the beginning of a remarkable success story and who's products are now relied upon by walkers and outdoor people worldwide.
Equally, the need for waterproof, windproof and comfortable proofers were needed across a range of apparrell developing the Nikwax poofer product range further.
